Help for organizers

• Getting started How do I run my first tournament on Pinli? Create the tournament, finish its settings, connect Stripe, set up a website, open registration, and activate when you're ready for your full field.
• Getting started How do I find a team, player or sponsor fast? Click the search box at the top of any page, or press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows). Type a name, email or phone number to find teams, players, sponsors and donors, with whether each one has paid.
• Tournament setup Which golf formats does Pinli support? Scramble and best ball. Either way, the captain enters one team score per hole. Stroke play, match play, Stableford and handicaps aren't supported.
• Tournament setup How do team size, teams per hole and field size work? Team size is players per team. Teams per hole is how many teams start on each hole at the shotgun. Your field size is the holes on your course times teams per hole.
• Tournament setup How does the reserve list work? Turn on Keep a reserve list in Settings, then Field & reserves. Once your field is full, teams can join the list, and when a spot opens the next team in line is offered it.
• Tournament setup How do I add another organizer? Go to Organizers, enter their email under Invite organizer and click Send invite. They accept from the email or their Invitations page and get full access. Organizers are free.
• Tournament setup Why can't I change my course or date? Event details, the course and the format lock once registration opens, because teams signed up for that event. Change them before you open registration, or contact us.
• Tournament setup How do I cancel a tournament? Go to Settings, then Cancel tournament. Tick the refund box, decide whether to email everyone, and confirm. The website comes down and sign-ups close. You can reopen it later.
• Trial and activation What does the free trial include? Everything you need to set up your tournament, plus real sign-ups for up to 5 teams and 2 sponsors. Tournament day, online payments and messages to your field unlock when you activate.
• Trial and activation How do I activate my tournament? Click Activate on your tournament's Overview and pay a one-time fee equal to one team's entry fee, $299 minimum. Your full field, online payments, messages and tournament day unlock right away.
• Payments How do I connect Stripe? Go to Settings, then Payments, and click Connect Stripe Account. Stripe walks you through setup, and team and sponsor payments turn on when you're back in Pinli.
• Payments Where does the money go, and when do I get paid? Card payments go straight into your own Stripe account, not through Pinli. Stripe pays them out to your bank on your Stripe payout schedule.
• Payments How do I record a cash or check payment? Open the team or sponsor and mark them paid. Pinli records who marked it and when, and the payment shows on the Payments page with everything else.
• Payments How do I see who still owes money? The Payments page lists every team and sponsor that still owes, oldest first, with the amount. Send a reminder or mark them paid from the same list.
• Payments How do refunds work? Refund card payments from your Stripe dashboard. Pinli picks up the refund on its own and marks the players or sponsor unpaid. For cash or check, just mark them unpaid.
• Payments How do I take donations? Go to Settings, then Payments, and turn on Donations. Pick three suggested amounts and who pays the card fee. Every dollar goes to your Stripe account, and Pinli takes nothing.
• Payments How do I sell mulligans? Go to Settings, then Payments, and turn on Sell mulligans. Set a price for one and the most each player can have. Players buy them on their team page, you add them on the day for cash, and captains mark them on the scorecard.
• Website and widgets How do I publish my tournament website? On the Website page, pick a template, fill in your story and schedule, and click Publish. Your site goes live at your-tournament.pinli.io.
• Website and widgets How do I add registration to the website I already have? On the Website page, open Embed on your site. Add one line to your site's header, once, then make buttons for registration, sponsors, donations or contact and paste them anywhere.
• Website and widgets How do I control Pinli from my own code? Once pinli.js is on your site, use data-pinli-* attributes on any element, or call Pinli.open from JavaScript. Both take the same options.
• Registration and teams How do captains register a team? Captains click Register your team on your website or embedded form and fill in their details. They get an email with their captain link, and each teammate with an email gets their own link.
• Registration and teams How do I add a team myself? On the Teams page, click Add team, enter a team name and the captain's name, email and phone, then click Add team. No emails go out, so share the captain link yourself.
• Registration and teams Why can't a team change its roster after paying? Once a player has paid, the captain can't edit or remove them from the team page. You can still fix any player's name, email or phone from the team in Teams.
• Registration and teams How do I invite last year's players? On Teams, open Invites and click Invite past participants to email last year's captains or players a link to register. You can also invite anyone by email with Invite captains.
• Sponsors How do I set up sponsor levels? On the Sponsors page, click Add levels, then Add level for each tier with a name and price. Add a limit to cap how many you'll sell, and use the arrows to set the order.
• Sponsors How do sponsors send me their logo? Sponsors upload their logo on their own sponsor page. Once it's checked, it shows up everywhere. The Missing logo filter on Sponsors shows who still needs to send one.
• Sponsors How do sponsorships that include a team work? Give a sponsor level included team slots. When the sponsor pays, or you mark them paid, Pinli creates their teams already paid, and each captain gets a link to fill in the roster.
• Messages and inbox Should I send an email or an announcement? Send an email when people need to read it in their inbox. Post an announcement for updates that should sit on every team page. One message can do both.
• Messages and inbox How do I schedule a message? In the composer, click Schedule…, pick a date and time, and click Schedule send. You can cancel it any time before it goes out.
• Messages and inbox Why can't I send messages anymore? Either the tournament is still on the free trial, where sending unlocks when you activate, or it's more than 30 days after your tournament, when messaging closes for good.
• Messages and inbox How does the contact form inbox work? Questions from your website's contact form are emailed to the organizers you pick and saved in Messages under Inbox. Reply from your own email, then click Mark handled.
• Budget How do I build a tournament budget? Go to Budget and click Set up my model. Answer a few questions and Pinli builds a projected budget, then fills in actual entry fees and sponsorships as they're paid online.
• Tournament day How do I assign starting holes? Open Starting holes and drag each team onto a hole, or click Fill open spots. Then finalize the start sheet and click Tell captains so each captain learns where they start.
• Tournament day How do I print cart sheets, rosters and results? Click Print sheets on the Teams page and pick Cart sheets, Team roster or Full results. Pinli makes a PDF you can print. Cart sheets and rosters carry a QR code to each team's scorecard.
• Tournament day How does check-in work on tournament day? Teams check in at your desk from the Tournament day page, or on their own phones from their team page if you allow it. Set the rules in Settings › Check-in.
• Tournament day What does the Tournament day page show? Tournament day walks you through check-in, the round, the last cards and results, and shows the one next thing to do. It opens a week before your event so you can practice.
• Tournament day How do I put the leaderboard on a TV? Turn on "Anyone with the link" in Settings › Scoring & leaderboard, then open the link on the TV. It shows live standings, thanks your paid sponsors, and switches to a podium when results are final.
• Results How do I lock scores, finalize flights and announce winners? On the Leaderboard, lock scoring, then finalize results and set the flight cut lines. Confirm the winners, print the awards sheet, and share the results link.
• Results How are ties broken? Teams tied on score are split by countback (back 9, last 6, last 3, then the 18th) or by the hardest holes. Pick the tiebreaker in Settings › Scoring & leaderboard.
• Next year How do I set up next year's tournament? Make your tournament a series, then click Plan next event. Your settings, sponsor levels and website carry over, the site keeps its address, and you can start your budget from last year's.
• Your account How do I sign in to Pinli? Sign in with your password, have Pinli email you a one-time sign-in link, or use Continue with Google. Team captains, players and sponsors don't need an account.
• Your account How do I delete my Pinli account? Go to Profile and click Delete account. Choose a new owner for any tournament you're the only owner of, type DELETE and confirm. It can't be undone.
