How do I set up next year's tournament?

Make your tournament a series, then click Plan next event. Your settings, sponsor levels and website carry over, the site keeps its address, and you can start your budget from last year's.

Next year’s tournament is a new tournament in the same series. It starts from this year’s setup, so you mostly just pick a date.

Before you start: only the tournament’s owner can set up a series and plan the next event.

1. Make it a series

On your tournament’s Overview, find Recurring tournament? and click Set up series. Tell Pinli how often it happens. For an annual event, add how many years it has run, including this one. Pinli uses that to name next year’s event, like “the 5th annual”.

If you run other events that belong together, choose Link to an existing series instead.

2. Plan the next event

On the series card on the Overview, click Plan next event. The new tournament form opens with “Settings carried over from” this year’s event.

These carry over: the name (with the next number for an annual), format, team size, teams per hole, course, reserve list settings, mulligans and minimum drives, flights, entry fee and time zone. The date and times don’t, so pick the new ones and create the tournament.

When it’s created, it also gets:

  • Your sponsor levels, with the same names, prices and descriptions.
  • Your website content, ready to edit. It keeps the same address. When you publish the new site, it becomes the main site, and last year’s moves to its own year link, like /2025.

Teams, sponsors and payments don’t carry over. Each year starts with an empty field.

3. Start the budget from last year

Open Budget on the new tournament. Click Start from last year to copy last year’s projected numbers and fundraising goal. Last year’s actual numbers aren’t copied, and sponsor lines are no longer tied to last year’s sponsor levels.

4. Invite last year’s players

On the series card, click Invite past participants to email past captains, or everyone who played, a link to register. See How do I invite last year’s players?

Common questions

Will Pinli remind me to plan next year? Yes. For an annual series, My Tournaments suggests “Plan next year’s” event 8 to 11 months after the last one, until next year’s is on the calendar.

Does the website address change? No. The series keeps one address every year, so last year’s flyers and links still work.

Can I take a tournament out of a series? No. Once a tournament is in a series it stays there, so set up the series only for events that really repeat.
